DAY 1 - Lake Manyara National Park

Manyara is one of the smallest parks in Tanzania, famous for its flamingos and tree-climbing lions. It is made up of a narrow strip of land nestled below the western escarpment of the Great Rift Valley, flanked to the east by the west bank of the alkaline Lake Manyara and to the west by the Gregory Rift Wall. The lake makes up two thirds of the park's area which makes it a superb destination to observe birds. More than 380 different species have been recorded, including its flamingos, which turn the landscape speckled pink. In addition to its birds and tree-climbing lions, zebra and wildebeest, warthog, impala, and giraffe can all be encountered along with the odd hippo bobbing about on the lake itself.
