DAY 2 - Ngorongoro Crater

Ngorongoro Crater, in the 8,300km2 Ngorongoro Conservation Area between the Serengeti and Lake Manyara, is one of the largest volcano craters in the world encompassing a massive 264km2. It was created when a volcano as high as Kilimanjaro exploded. The crater is home to some 25,000 large grazing animals and the largest concentration of predators on the planet including lion, leopard and cheetah. Pink flamingos and other species of water birds can also be seen in the saline lake at the centre of the crater. Some say that if one had a single opportunity to experience safari then this would be the place to go because nowhere else in Africa does such a variety of animals come together to live, hunt and die.
