DAY 3 - Tarangire National Park

Tarangire Park, with its aptly named perennial river, is located between the Maasai Steppe in the south-east and the Great Rift Valley lakes in the north. It covers 2,850km2 comprising grasslands, floodplain and woodland. The wildlife is migratory with much of it leaving the area from November to May, returning between June and October when it is dry to the swamps and river system. This makes the area a good place to see herds of up to 300 elephants congregating near the river along with wildebeest and zebra. You are also likely to see impala, giraffe, eland, buffalo, Thompson's gazelle, Coke's hartebeest, bohor reedbuck, greater and lesser kudu as well as lion, leopard and hyena.
